Acme Math Tutoring
About
Some teachers make it really difficult to understand a subject or a specific concept, I aim to explain concepts in multiple forms to be able to help gain a better understanding. I am understanding and flexible when it comes to topics and levels of understanding and genuinely enjoy teaching others to be confident in their abilities.
I love watching people succeed and thrive in what they do and believe that people can. It is not fair to feel stuck in school or feel like you are the "dumb" one, that is not how it should go. I love watching confidence sky rocket as skills are learned. I love being able to help people succeed

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student it is fairly typical that I spend a session or two working on understanding strengths and weaknesses. I like to hear why my student and their parents believe they are struggling and what they see as the most important aspect for improvement. I also tend to like to have communication with the child's teacher in order to gain a better understanding from yet another perspective on what areas need to be adressed. From their we work on key concepts, homework, past tests, etc, to boost strength in some of the weaker areas.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have tutored a 2ng grader in math, English, science, reading, and spelling. I currently work with a fourth grader on math, as well as a seventh grader. I am helping with a thesis presentation for high school seniors, including editing papers and helping create PowerPoint presentations. I have tutored in algebra and biology.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Depending on the subject and level of difficulty my prices will range between $12-$30 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I am a full time nursing student and needed a way to have income and I have peer tutored throughout high school and enjoy helping in this manner.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide variety of students. Some with ADHD, autism, hearing imparement, as well as many different age and grade ranges.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I am fond of is this past weekend when I was able to take a special needs group I volunteer with to the aquarium. This is the first time many of them have been out in this capacity since COVID and watching their faces light up was absolute magic.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do not settle for a teacher you do not like. Find someone who makes you comfortable, invites questions and curiosity, and someone who you feel matches your learning style. If you feel like you are not learning from them or are not comfortable it is probably time to move on to someone new.
