About
I have over 15 years of experience working with children and 5 years specifically working as a tutor, both in person and online. I hold a master’s degree in Library Science and began working with children at the age of 19, conducting story time sessions for children in a public library setting. I have worked with over 100 students on a one-to-one basis as a tutor and have received extensive tutoring training from certified teachers.
My experience assisting students encompasses most school subjects, including math, ELA, spelling, reading, writing, science, social studies, and foreign languages (Spanish and Italian), as well as helping with projects and test preparation. While I prefer to work with elementary and middle school children, I have also assisted many high school-aged students, as well as children with ADD/ADHD and autism.
To me, tutoring is extremely rewarding. I know how important it is to make children feel at ease, which in turn helps them become more ready and willing to learn. This is why I like to incorporate humor into the sessions, because most children enjoy laughter, and from my experience, they gain my trust, feel more comfortable, and become more confident in their ability to learn.
