I am a retired college professor with over 45 years of experience teaching math (and other technical subjects) at the college level in both the face-to-face and online environments. My degrees through the doctoral level are in chemical engineering which gives me a slightly different perspective when teaching math from what you might find from a pure mathematics instructor.
I offer math tutoring services in three formats:
First – FREE and without charge or other obligation, I offer detailed step-by-step solutions to a variety of more than 500 math problems for review, practice, and learning. The problem solutions, along with more than 30 math-related HELP documents and videos, can be downloaded in Word document format from my web site at https://www.dicksblog.info/mathsolutions.
Second – I will provide a detailed step-by-step solution in Word document format emailed to your provided email address for any math problem sent to [email protected]. Solution to the first problem submitted is FREE. Solutions to subsequent problems will be billed at $15 each.
Third – I am available for a one-on-one 30-minute ‘get acquainted/introductory’ online tutoring session FREE of charge. Subsequent sessions will be scheduled on an appointment basis for $30 per hour, charged in half-hour increments (or fraction thereof), using either Zoom or Google Meet video conferencing applications.
I will invoice you via PayPal for services rendered as outlined above. Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice.
Please note that I live and work in Arizona where we are on Mountain Standard Time all year round. Unlike most of the rest of the United States, Arizona (except for certain isolated locations within the state) does not observe Daylight Saving Time (DST) during the summer months.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For personal reasons, I am unable to either travel to the student’s location or to have the student travel to mine, so I offer my services in the online environment only. I use the Zoom Video Conferencing platform for my online tutoring sessions. I will send instructions for using the Zoom platform once we have established a working relationship.
I can also provide detailed hard-copy solutions to any problem for a small fee. Each solution will be in MS Word document (.doc, .docx) or .pdf format and emailed directly to the student’s provided email address. These solutions can be used for reference and/or for further study.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 40 years of teaching experience in both the face-to-face and online environments. I have BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering and have worked for several well-known companies.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge $40 per hour for math tutoring services. I charge/bill in increments of 15 minutes or $10 per 15-minute increment or fraction thereof. A minimum deposit of $40 must be made to my PayPal account at [email protected] before our first online contact. I am happy to refund the unused portion of any pre-paid amounts.
