What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want to know where the student is having trouble, but it is also important to look back in the students learning to make sure a key component wasn't misunderstood in thelearning process. Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My all time favorite teaching event is whenever I see a light bulb moment. A student's face that lights up because they finally understand, not only the answer, but the entire concept they have been struggling with.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Keep an open mind. I like to make learning fun and often have silly songs or sayings to help you remember your assignments. Tutors may also be able to teach you new ways to answer questions that are different from your school teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Make sure you know exactly where you need help so that you and your teacher can get right to work. Be specific in your requests. Think outside the box, your tutor may know different ways to acheive the right answer and one may click for you better than what you were taught in school.
