Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $25 for an hour of tutoring, using the student's materials, e.g. textbooks, references, guidelines, and/or tests. The charge would be more if I am supplying materials.
How did you get started teaching?
My earliest studies and experiences in theater included teaching creative dramatics to school children.
What types of students have you worked with?
Elementary school children, adult learners and trainees.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I was hired for an internet commercial promoting Dogtopia, a dog boarding and grooming company. My role was "Crazy Dog Lady." It was a fun character to portray; the director and film crew were extremely supportive and encouraging. Just before the shoot, a young woman from the advertising agency sought me out and told me how much she had enjoyed my original audition tape - she said "You made me feel that I wanted to be your best friend."
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell the student the following:
Do extensive research into the available teachers.
Find out about their training, experiences, and approaches to learning.
Ask yourself if you feel that the teacher's profile complements your learning style and meets your educational requirements.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The students should think through the following questions:
What do I expect from this tutoring?
How much time am I willing to spend with the tutor to improve my learning?
Does my tutor's background show that he/she will be able to help me learn?
