About
My name is Marian Bass and I love being a teacher!
Here is a brief summary of my professional background. I graduated with honors from The Ohio State University earning my Bachelor’s Degree, and I began work on my Master’s Degree in elementary education there. I moved to Arizona and started my teaching career where I have taught Kindergarten through 6th grades. I was a specialist in gifted education and worked as the K-3 Liaison for Gifted Education for Mesa Public Schools. I have also worked for the Arizona Department of Education as a Solutions Team Specialist evaluating elementary schools and developing a plan to improve their programs. My teaching experience includes work at Cardon Children’s Hospital where I taught medically-fragile children in the hospital setting. I was also an adjunct professor in education at Grand Canyon University. I retired from teaching and truly enjoy working on-on-one with tutoring students.
I have my highly qualified certification, Arizona endorsements in Early Childhood Education, Reading, Gifted Education and Structured English Immersion, as well as certification in CPR.
Students who work with me receive an individualized program specifically designed to align with academic areas that need a boost. I communicate directly with the classroom teacher so that I am part of a team working to provide the best plan to ensure success for each of my students by not only focusing on academics, but also focusing on building confidence. Parents are an integral part of the team as well and that is what makes it all work.
Teaching is my passion, and I love being able to encourage and cheer for each student on their road to success!
