I am an elementary level educator who is passionate about teaching literacy and English language learners using the methods supported by the science of reading. I will be taking the Orton Gillingham training at the end of February and look forward to using that training to help students be successful and confident in their reading.

I have 7 years of kindergarten teaching experience in Arizona public schools where I served the ELL population by helping kindergarten students prepare each year for the state language acquisition assessment and am currently certified in Early Childhood Education (birth-3rd grade in the state of Virginia. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and a Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

I have over ten years experience as a tutor at a tutoring center where I use assigned curriculum and tailor it to each child's needs.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

When working with a new student, I like to focus on getting to know them as an individual so that I can be sure that my instruction includes their interests so that I can keep them engaged. I also like to do some assessments in their areas of need so that I can form an instructional plan that will be most beneficial to the student.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have 7 years experience teaching kindergarten in Arizona public schools and am currently certified in early childhood education in the state of Virginia. I also have ten years experience in tutoring students grades kindergarten through fifth grade.

I charge $50/hour for my services. Half hour sessions will be offered to families seeking kindergarten readiness tutoring for their child entering kindergarten in the fall.

How did you get started teaching?

I did my teacher prep at Hood College in Maryland and began my career teaching Kindergarten in the Arizona public school system.

Find a teacher whose experience, qualifications, and trainings best fit your needs. There are many programs available that meet student needs in different ways. Find the tutor using a program that best fits your needs.
