About
I hold an M.S. in Chemical Engineering (ASU) and MBA (UA). I hold an AZ certification in Mathematics and Physics (grades 7-12) and have an AZ level one fingerprint clearance card.
I also have considerable teaching experience with a broad range of mathematics, from Prealgebra through Calculus, and sciences, primarily physics. Having both taught physics and worked in government and industry as an engineer, I can often show students how the math they learn in the classroom (or online) is put to practical, real life use. I put these skills and patience to use in motivating the struggling student and helping him or her to do their best. When appropriate, I also can provide students who are not adequately challenged in the traditional classroom or online course with materials outside the standard curriculum.
Seeing students succeed in their coursework and feel more confident in using mathematics as a powerful tool, particularly in the physical sciences,

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Identify with student and/or parent(s) subject matter, online material or textbook, student's preparation for course or test, learning style and challenges to success. If tutoring will be done in-person and seems necessary, arrange a brief face-to-face meeting with student (no charge) to ensure I am a good fit for student's learning style. If tutoring is to be done online, obtain sample of student's online or classwork in preparation for first online session so that I may assess scope and difficulty of work.
