I am a high school teacher and have experience in teaching sciences including chemistry, physics, and environmental science as well as high school engineering. Students who have worked with me have come from four area high schools and three colleges.
I throughly enjoy helping students achieve their educational goals. Tutoring allows me to provide individual support that is oftentimes absent in a traditional classroom.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
New clients receive specialized attention to make the most impact on success. Most often, students share with parents that they have learned more in one hour after working with me than the whole semester with his or her teacher. Although I charge for one hour, students and I generally work until we are finished which could be fifteen minutes over. I am also available by phone to answer quick questions for free that come up in between our time together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a high school teacher and have taught chemistry for over eight years. I have earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a master's degree with a concentration in environmental chemistry.

I charge $60/hour if I travel to your home. $40/hour if we meet virtually.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with both high school and college students who are enrolled in chemistry, physics, and engineering courses. Students looking for ACT preparation have benefited from working with me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is important that students feel comfortable with the tutor. Students should be able to see an increase in comfort with the subject material right away and students should know that studying is extremely important for success. Working with a tutor once per week will not be adequate as studying upper-level science courses require a small amount of study time every day.
