Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to become accquainted with new students, discover their interests/hobbies, as well as do some diagnostics to discover what they know about targeted subject and where they need to be.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Besides a college degree with early child hood and reading instruction, I have attended many workshops and training over the years to do with reading/math instruction, classroom discipline/ behavior modification, administration, small group instruction, early childhood, IPE implementation. I also have taught in many educational settings such as therapeutic activities, traditional classroom, self contained school classroom(spec ed), community college, small group, individual tutor, online classroom.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always enjoyed learning and realized in college that I continually was teaching, collaborating, sharing what little bit of knowledge I had in any subject from dancing to history whenever the need or opportunity occured! This revelation cemented my major. As a reader myself, reading instruction was a given, and I went on to find I had a special love and talent for early childhood education as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked in pre K thru 12 th grade, ESL , adults, special education, children with behavior problems stemming from abuse. I have tutored in English, reading/ phonics, history, elementary math.
