About
I am a tutor with field work experience in Environmental Science, and 8 years of high school Biology teaching experience. I am currently a high school Biology teacher who is intimately familiar with NGSS and MI Life Science standards. I have a passion for both science and education, and truly want to offer my tutelage to help our youth succeed!
I get the most enjoyment out of the relationships I build with my students and their families. There's a saying in education: students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. I truly care about my students and their success. I have built lifelong relationships with my students. My first group are graduating college this year and still reach out to me for guidance.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I first try to assess what their learning style is. Some students are visual learners and need to have things drawn out or demonstrated through videos/modeling. Other students are hands-on and need to have lab-type experiences to understand concepts. While we have standardized concepts, student learning is far from standardized and I make it my mission to find what works for each individual student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a B.S. in Environmental Science and Resource Management with a minor in Biology, and a M.A. in Teaching. I am a certified Professional educator through the state of Michigan. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a lead field researcher on wetland and riparian ecosystem studies in southern California and New Orleans.
