Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to first discuss with the student to get a sense of how he/she feel about the particular subject, including current strengths and weaknesses, as well as their improvement goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science from MIT and this makes me very experienced and quallified in the areas of mathematics, physics, and computer science. I also took AP Calculus, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP English Language, and AP US History in high school and so I am very familiar with the subject material most students are dealing with.
How did you get started teaching?
My counselor at high school recommended me to some parents looking for tutors for their middle school children because of my high grades and responsible character.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ranging from age 12 to age 40 on subjects like algebra, calculus, geometry, physics, etc.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You've come to the right place. Getting a tutor can help you to greatly increase your understanding and confidence in whatever subject you seek to improve at. Having studied at MIT for my undergraduate and (current) graduate degrees, I have the knowledge and insights that will help you improve your confidence, understanding, and grades.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should try to identify the topics they are good at and the ones they need improvement in. Furthermore, students should outline their learning goals so that it is easier for the tutor to track progress and milestones.
